Story
The digitalization of terrestrial TV broadcasting is a national policy that is seriously promoted by the Japanese telecommunications regulator, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC). The digitalization should be completed by 2011, but, as in other major countries, this policy objective does not seem to be realized, at least by the deadline.
Therefore, it is a commonsense among IT professionals that the digitalization plan should be extended or ended into failure. But at the same time, over this chaos killer-applications after the analog TV programs should exist and if a company holds a leadership in the killer-applications, it can become a king of the broadcasting-telecommunications convergence era.
